How To Use Vinted To Turn Your Clutter Into Cash

If you've been diligently decluttering your space and finding clothes, accessories and homewares that are in good condition or have never been worn, then it can feel like a waste to just gift them to a charity shop. In this case, Vinted may be your answer.

For those who haven't heard of Vinted, think of it as the virtual thrift store where you can sell your pre-loved items and find new treasures without leaving the comfort of your home. Below will give you an insight into how to navigate Vinted like a pro and turn your clutter into cold, hard cash.

Step 1: Assess if its worth your time

Before you get started on Vinted, then take a look at the items you’ve added to your ‘Sell’ pile and ask yourself “is it worth my time?”. Vinted makes it easy to list items but the whole process of selling items can take quite a while and you will need to store them until they sell. If you’re on a decluttering journey then selling items may be a bit of a sticking point and can delay what needs to get done. Don’t get waylaid and only sell items that you will actually get some decent money from! Read my other blog BLOG TITLE XXXXX to assess what is and isn’t worth your time.

Step 2: Snap, List, Repeat

Once you’ve decided what you’re selling, it's time to grab your phone and start snapping pics. Remember, presentation is key! Clear, well-lit photos showcasing the item from different angles will attract more potential buyers. Don’t use your floral bedspread as a backdrop as it won’t show off the item well. Try and use a clean and tidy corner with a neutral background to display items. Be honest about the condition of your items and add descriptions to make your listings stand out. If a dress has pockets add it in. Women LOVE pockets! If it runs a bit small or big add that in as well.

Step 3: Price it Right

Don't let your sentimental attachment to items inflate the price. Research similar items on Vinted to get an idea of the market value. A reasonable price tag will attract more buyers, leading to a quicker and more successful sale. Remember buyers will also be paying a Buyer Protection fee and postage on top so always add imagine a couple of extra pounds on to your price and decide whether it still sounds reasonable.

Step 4: Be Social and Share the Love

Vinted is not just a marketplace; it's a community. Follow other users, like their items, and leave positive comments. Engaging with others boosts your visibility and increases the chances of your items being seen. You may also find that you stop buying new items if you can find it on Vinted first - I know I have!

Step 5: Package with Care

Once you've made a sale it's time to impress your buyer with top-notch packaging. Wrap your item securely (I buy postage bags on Amazon in bulk in a colour that stands out), throw in a little thank-you note if you want, and ship it out promptly. Happy customers are more likely to leave positive reviews and could even become repeat buyers.

Step 6: Revel in Your Clutter-Free Space and Extra Moolah

As your sales roll in, bask in the glory of your selling success and decide how you will spend your money. You can keep the balance in Vinted to spend within the app or you can transfer out to your bank account which takes approx 3-5 days.

Using Vinted is a quick and fairly simple way to sell on your clutter and you can give yourself a big pat on the back because you are also helping the environment and mankind. Not only are you reducing waste but someone else is getting a gorgeous preloved item from you and not buying yet another piece of cheaply made, fast fashion from overseas where the ethical practices may be slightly murky. Hurrah!

Let me know how you get on and if you have any questions that aren’t answered here I’d be happy to answer them for you!
